Need help with HugoFamily?
HugoFamily is still growing. Here you'll find the most important things — and if you're stuck, write to us. We're happy to help you sort it out.
Getting started
How do I create a family?
Create a family space on the web, choose a language, and you’re in. Nothing to set up first — start free.
How do I add HugoFamily to my phone?
HugoFamily runs in your browser and can be added to your home screen like an app. You'll find step-by-step guides for iPhone, Android, and desktop on the How it works page.
How do I invite another parent or child?
You invite parents by email. Children join via a simple QR code — with no email and no password. Parents stay in control.
How do I start a shopping list?
Create your first shared list, and anyone in the family can add items from their phone — they show up for everyone else right away.
How do tasks and routines work?
Assign household chores, set gentle reminders, and you can approve completed tasks. It works for children, too.
How do I get tasks onto my phone calendar?
Family Plus. Me → Calendar integration. Either subscribe a calendar (Apple, Google as a URL, Outlook — read-only), or Connect Google and HugoFamily creates a calendar named HugoFamily. Dated tasks that belong to you show up there as all-day events. Changes and completion belong in HugoFamily. Detailed guide: Help
Modules
What are HugoCards?
A family loyalty-card wallet — securely stored codes, camera scan, and a big barcode at the checkout with one tap. Managed by parents.
What are HugoNotes?
Shared colour sticky notes for the whole family — a short message, pin on the home screen, optional expiry. Not a chat replacement, more like a calm notice board at home.
What is HugoMeals?
Family meal planning on the Family Plus plan — everyone suggests what they'd like, parents decide what fits the week, and you can send ingredients to the shopping list after you confirm. Children can vote on ideas; parents edit the weekly plan.
What is HugoJournal?
A personal measurements journal on Family — weight trends, goals, and calm charts. Not a medical app. Intimate entries have their own HugoIntimate module (Family Plus).
What is HugoIntimate?
A private intimate journal on Family Plus — separate from HugoJournal, encrypted activities, a stopwatch, and a summary just for you. Children cannot access it.
Can I show my cycle to a partner?
You track your cycle in HugoJournal (Family plan). You can offer it read-only to one adult in the family — they have to accept. After they accept, they see it in HugoIntimate (Family Plus). It is not a medical app. You can revoke sharing at any time. It is not offered to children. Detailed guide: Help
What is HugoFreezer?
Freezer memory on Family Plus — write a number on the bag; Hugo remembers contents, age, and place. Put in, take out, and browse without paper notes.
What is HugoPocket?
A weekly pocket-money ritual on Family Plus: kids check off help at home, parents close and review the week — then assign a free-form amount. No bank and no automatic formula.
Does HugoFamily work offline?
After you add HugoFamily to your home screen it never opens to a blank screen offline — you see the last loaded content or the “You’re offline” page. Offline read is included in Family and Family Plus; offline write (change queue) is only in Family Plus.
| Activity | Free | Family | Family Plus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cold start without a blank screen | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Shopping — browse lists | — | read | read |
| Shopping — bought / undo | — | — | write |
| Tasks — browse / complete | — | read | read + write |
| HugoCards — grid and opened card | — | read | read |
| HugoNotes — browse / edit | — | — | read + write |
| HugoJournal — timeline and entries | — | read | read + write |
| HugoIntimate — private entries | — | — | read + write |
| HugoFreezer — browse inventory | — | — | read |
| HugoPocket — week board, marks, extras | — | — | read + write |
| HugoMeals | — | — | online only |
Queued offline changes send when you reconnect. Intimate notes stay on the device until sync — the queue never shows the note text.
Which modules are free?
Daily and weekly shopping lists are free. Tasks, loyalty cards, and the journal (HugoJournal) are on Family; notes, meals, freezer (HugoFreezer), private intimate journal (HugoIntimate), and pocket money (HugoPocket) are on Family Plus — details on the Pricing page.
HugoFamily AI plugin
How do I connect ChatGPT or Claude to my family?
The HugoFamily AI plugin is part of the Family Plus plan. Sign in as a parent via OAuth — no copying a secret key into chat. Detailed guide: Help · HugoFamily AI plugin
Why can't I see or use the AI plugin?
You need an active Family Plus plan and a parent account. Check your subscription in Settings. After cancellation or expiry the connection stops working — renew your plan or reconnect the assistant.
